Awesome piece of Mardi Gras history! This is a very rare and amazing invitation to the 1884 Krewe of Ye Mysic Merry Bellians Mardi Gras ball. An offshoot of another short-lived krewe called the Independent Order of the Moon, this krewe only held a parade and ball for a single year, 1884. The invitation is in the form of a bell which opens to reveal several pages w/ various "bell" themed vignettes, including a very odd one of a cow making a painting of other cows.
