RARE Antique German Papier-Mâché Easter Egg Large 7 Size Anthropomorphic Bunny

  

This is a very rare large antique German Easter egg, measuring approximately 7 inches tall, featuring wonderfully detailed anthropomorphic rabbits engaged in charming springtime activities-dancing, playing, picnicking, and strolling with parasols. These early papier-mâché eggs were traditionally made in Germany around the turn of the century and were used to hold sweets or small toys as holiday gifts. I have collected antique German Easter pieces for years, and I have never seen this exact pattern before. The density of the illustrations and the whimsical, storybook style are exceptional. Material: Papier-mâché with lithographed paper overlay. Size: Approximately 7" tall (larger than the typical 4-5" German eggs). Design: Repeat pattern of anthropomorphic rabbits in various activities; bright green background; interior lined with traditional star-printed paper. Construction: Two-piece egg that opens at the center seam. Interior: Clean with original star-print lining. Please review all photos carefully. This piece is over 100 years old and shows its age as expected. Paper litho exterior shows scattered wear, small losses, and some cracking to the surface layer. Seam shows wear and chipping from decades of opening and closing. Displays beautifully despite these issues, and the condition is consistent with authentic antique papier-mâché Easter goods.
